There was many conflicts in 1984, but the main conflict in the novel is how totalitarian govenments censor everything they can. In 1984, Big Brother was able to censor just about everything. He even censored what people could think about and he censored peoples feelings towards one another. The govenment had placed cameras in every room to watch the citizens and make sure they didn't have any personal things that could provoke what the government called "thoughtcrime" which was basically any rebellious thoughts that went against Big Brothers beliefs. The main character Winston Smith almost got arrested just because he had a diary. I think 1984 is a pretty believable novel because it would be very easy for a powerful government to start censoring people more and more until people have basically become thoughtless slaves of society. I like how Orwell was very discriptive and informative. He uses a calm voice which contrasts sharply with the horrors in the novel.

back to Peter is amazing!!!
